An inquest heard that Steve Wand was riding with friends when a driver pulled out around 150ft in front of them on Hosey Hill. Wand was heard to shout as he came off his bike which then came past two riders ahead of him and struck the van. He suffered an impacted head injury an skull fractures. Assistant coroner Geoffrey Smith recorded a verdict of accidental death.
