Robert Dearing was killed when he was struck from behind by a Kia Rio driven by Patricia Crozier, in the vicinity of a railway bridge over Sand Lane near Marston, north of Grantham.
An inquest in July 2016 heard that Crozier said in a police interview, “I don’t know where he came from. I saw the cyclist when he was at the side of me; I saw him go up a bit and then fall. He seemed to be the same colour as the shadows.” Crozier and Dearing would have been heading directly towards the sun.
Coroner Paul Smith recorded a verdict of death by road traffic collision. There are no reports of any charges against Crozier.
