An inquest held in October 2016 heard that the body of Keith Robins was found in the Poynton canal. “Uneven tyre tracks” and a diagnosis of epilepsy in 2005 (Robins’ last previous seizure was in March 2015) led to the conclusion that he had suffered a seizure causing him to lose control of his bicycle. A pathologist gave the cause of death as cardiac arrest caused by sudden exposure to cold water.
Assistant coroner Jean Rankin recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
