Jayson Gibson was killed when he was struck by a car driven by a 54 year old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
An inquest in July 2017 heard that Gibson had cycled across a toucan crossing on a red light and was struck as he wars partway across the carriageway. Investigating officer Pc Mark Hemingway said that the driver was not exceeding the 50mph speed limit and “would not have had time to react” to Gibson.
Senior coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of accidental death.
